La Casa del Sorriso is a project to help street children and disadvantaged people wanted by Dr. Enzo Falcone, president of "Care The People", an association that operates in Vietnam. The funds for the construction of the work were made available by Mediafriends Onlus and Mondadori with the proceeds from the sale of the book "A smile as big as the world" the storybook, based on six true stories of children in difficulty, which in various parts of the world thanks to solidarity have had the opportunity to be helped and have been able to find a smile again.Six television personalities have enthusiastically accepted to participate in this project by writing a brief introduction to each of the fairy tales.Gerry Scotti also lent his voice to reading the stories for the audio CD that accompanies the volume.
Reguitti & Partners has collaborated in the project by drawing up the building design and following its construction at every stage (contracting, supervision of works) at a distance and with three dedicated missions in Vietnam. On 14/1/2009, in Danang (Vietnam) in the presence of the Italian Ambassador S.E Andrea Perugini, of the Consul of Laos, of the highest city authorities of political and social institutions, the Casa del Sorriso was finally inaugurated.

►  VINH SON I ORPHANAGE - Kontum - Viet Nam

The orphanage complex is located on the southeastern edge of the city of Kontum, in the central highlands of Vietnam, very close to the border with Laos and Cambodia. The areas of Kontum were the scene, during the Vietnam war, of intense bombardments with napalm and the native populations, the "montagnard" still live for the most part in villages, with traditions still partly tribal and certainly in situations of economic degradation and social.
The "Montagnard" children's orphanage is located at the back of the well-preserved "wooden church" and some oratory buildings dating back to the 1930s, a period in which the structure of the Kontum Catholic mission experienced its greatest development with construction of the Archiepiscopal building, on the hill to the north. In the orphanage there are several buildings, some from that period (1930) with the exception of the main one (the dormitory for younger children), which probably dates back to the mid-1970s. The entire complex faces south towards the gardens used by the same orphanage and the soccer fields, in the floodplain of the Dak Bla, the river that surrounds the city on three sides.
Reguitti & Partner has been dealing with this complex for about 5 years, with various actions, but especially with the design and construction supervision of works to improve sanitary and hygienic conditions.Starting from October 2004 and subsequently in 2005 and 2006 with other financing, a first project was developed with funds partly from private donors from Brescia, partly from the Lyon Club Brescia Host and partly from the cooperation action of the Community of Sant'Egidio of Rome, in the context of Italian cooperation linked to international adoptions.
In April 2006 an agreement was signed with the heads of the Orphanage for the financing of a new multi-functional building, recently completed and the refectory of the children's refectory.During 2006, a further project was developed for the renovation of the main building used as a nest for newborns and for younger children and the related works were recently completed and viewed during the visit of 11 January 2007 .The works of the year 2007 opened at Vinh Son 1 with the inauguration of what has been achieved so far by the Italian Ambassador in Vietnam, S.E Alfredo Matacotta Cordella. During the ceremony, which was also attended by the Bishop of Kontum, a memorial plaque was discovered.
The mission of the Italian Ambassador, continued with the official meetings with the President of the Popular Committee of Kontum and the representatives of the various Provincial MinistriesBut the needs remain, despite the numerous improvements made in the last two years, especially with regard to the structures of the other orphanages related to that of Vinh Son 1 or Vinh Son 2 and Vinh Son 3.The absolute need to give these children continuous medical assistance and supervision remains in the foreground. In the last recent visit, many children - especially the youngest - were still affected by scabies and other different skin diseases. To learn more about the cooperation of the authorized institutions for adoption see www.commissioneadozioni.it or www.santegidio.org , is possible to download the overall report of the work carried out in these years.
